This year Panmure Bridge School is lucky enough to participate in the Summer Learning Journey from 2018-2019. This is an opportunity for the Manaiakalani cluster school to join. For the Summer Learning Journey we are given tasks to finish. The people who place 1st, 2nd, and 3rd from each school wins exclusive prizes. The prizes this year is amazing. I have completed most of the week 1 challenges and the week 2 challenges. I am apparently on week 3 now. The week 3 challenges is based called Up, Up and Away. This task was based on Matariki. First I was to listen to the story about Matariki that was read by a lady. Then we were to write about it.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teacher is Mrs Anderson.

Hello Mele,
ReplyDeleteWow your story is just like story in the book. I am glad to see you posting on your blog. Keep it up!
Hi Mele,
ReplyDeleteGreat job on completing this activity, I liked how in your story you described lots of details. Another thing that I liked was how you said that the God of stars flew the 7 women somewhere far away from earth. Where do you think the God took them?
Hi Mele!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great summary of the 'Seven Stars of Matariki'.
I like that you have managed to do it so concisely, great work!
Did you enjoy this story?
I thought Miti was a pretty cool character - I have read a few different Matariki books but I think this one and the 7 kites of Matariki are pretty awesome! Have you read the 7 Kites of Matariki?
Have you learnt much about Matariki in school?
I know that when I was in school there was only 7 stars of Matariki but I heard recently that it is now counted as 9...
I found this article here that talks a little bit about it:

Great work with this activity Mele, ka pai!
Nga mihi,
Ellee :)
