This week LS2 completed their second session of Gymnastics with Steve. Steve works at the Eastern Suberbs Gymnastics gym. Their were 3 courses. Since there were 3 rotations we took 10 minutes at each. We did forward/backward rolls, cartwheels, handstands, beam- balance, building strength, and jumping. These activities gave us the opportunity to become more brave, and try out new challenges. Our warm up was called Toilet Flush. Every time there were new taggers, we did different exercises like: jumping, and hoping on 1 leg. We managed to come out of our comfort zones and try out everything. 1 rule in gymnastics is to give everything a go. One thing that I found interesting was that I could do the beam without stopping, because the first time I tried I kept on stopping.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teacher is Mrs Anderson.

Ki o Rahi
Today LS2 completed another week of Ki o Rahi. Our kiwi sport teacher is Shanesse. Ki o Rahi is a game that retells the legend of Rahi. Today was all about fair and honesty. Each team also showed encouragement to each other. We managed to share the ball between both girls and boys. As an excitement we used rippa's today. To make this game work there were 2 teams, which were Taniwha and Keuma. To start the game off 1 person from the Taniwha team is to kick the ball to the Kaitiaks, as they are to catch it. Once the Kaitiak's have catched it they need to try and pass it to their team, which is in Te Ao - outside of the world. Their team it to then run around and score points. If they get both of their rips taken off they are to hand the ball over to the other team. This team then tries to hit the Tupu, while the Kaitiaki is trying to block. If 2 are taken off their belts they can pass it to anther team and score the point.

Kiwisport - Ki O Rahi
Today we completed another session of Kiwi sport. Our Kiwi sport for the next few weeks is Ki O Rahi. Ki o Rahi is a game that was retelled in the words of the Legend of Rahi story. Our coach was Shanice. Today was all about being fair and honesty. There were 2 teams for the game that we played today. Before playing Shanice explained to us about the parts in this game in Te Reo Maori. We were to run to the right place. This included active listening. After doing this we carried on with the session, by getting into 2 teams. These 2 teams were called the Taniwha and Kiamo. Taniwha's job was to run with the ball and touch all poles. We were not allowed to enter the ice bridge. The guards were the only ones that could enter this bridge. This game was similar to golden child, but the Kiamo's job was to try and hit the ball onto the Tapu while the 2 guards were trying to block them from getting it.

Today was our second session of boxing with Pax. Today we did the same thing as we did last week. This meant that last week we learnt how to jab and cross by pivoting our back leg. Today we learnt how to uppercut left and right, and hook left and right. We also learnt how to move our legs when we made our punch. When we were to uppercut left and right we were to move our body, so that we had added more power into it. When we were to hook left and right we were to more our too. When making a move with our legs we were to put one leg at the front and the other at back then we either moved forward or backwards.

Today for kiwisport was our first session of boxing. Our instructor today was Pax. To start off with our session we played a warm up game. In this warm up we were to try and touch our partners shoulder or knee. If they got touched they were to do 1 burpie. After that we started wearing our gloves and we got into the position of our boxing stance. The position that we stood in was called a rock. In this position we were to put one feet backwards and the other one at the front. After doing this we bent our knees. Then we placed our hands underneath our jaw. Next we started practising how to jab and cross. A jab is when you box at someone roughly or quickly. A cross is when you jab the opposite sides. Today's session was really enjoying, because not only did we have fun in everything we did, but we got to learn some great self defence skills.

This week for Kiwi sport was our first session with Miss Morris. The first thing we did was passing the ball in a line. The next thing we did was passing the ball over and under to the person behind us. After that we played a warm up game. In this warm up game everyone got into 2 lines. When Miss Morris says go the first two leader at the front need to run to the green bib using a rugby ball. Once they've arrived there they need to do 2 start jumps and throw the ball to the next person in the line when they are standing on the red bib. The last game we played was King/Queen. Everybody tucked in a bib into there pants/skirts. When Miss Morris calls go everyone needs to run and try to grab as much bibs as they can off people in 1 minute 20 seconds. The person who wins is King/Queen.

Softball

Today for Softball was our first session. Our instructors name was called Alison. Today for Softball I learnt how to throw a ball using the L shape and the monkadileabb. My partner was Miki. First we started of with throwing and catching the ball. The person who was throwing had to have their writing hand at the back, Their left leg back with their right leg in the front. The person that was going to catch had their hands ready like a butterfly.Once we finished practising we went further back. The last partners to be standing wins. We the same thing but with the monkadileabb. It means acting like a monkey and when the ball come you have to walk side to side like a crab.Once you catch it you act like a crocodile trying to bite something.

This week for Kiwi sport was our 2nd to last session with Kevin. The first thing we did was play stuck in the mud for a warm up game. There were 2 taggers trying to tag the rest of us. The next thing we did was learn a new skill called back hand lift. So lift means opening it up and wack it to make your opponent run to the back of their court. We had to throw it 5 times each while the other person catches. After that we did rally's. We needed to use our back hand serve and also our racket leg at the front. The last thing we did was play a couple of games. The first game we played was singles ins and out. So it was 1 versus the other person on 1 court. After that we play doubles ins and outs. It was 2 vs 2 on the same court.

Kiwi Sport Term 4- Badminton
Kiwi Sport Term 4
This week for Badminton is was our 2nd session with Kevin. First we played everybody's it. In the game everybody had to be the tagger. If 2 people tags each other at the same time that means they will need to do rock, paper, scissors. We had only 2 rounds. To get back in the game if the person that tags you get out that means you can stand back up. Next we got into partners and then we started practising using the backhand and the forhand. The last thing we did was to let one of your partners throw the shuttle while the other person hits the shuttle.

LI: To learn different techniques for badminton.
This week we had a new sport instructor teaching us badminton. His name was Kevin. This first thing we did at Badminton was a warm up game. For group B we played stuck in the mud. Me and Nyjah were the two taggers.Kevin decided to change it to his rules. The rules were if you get tagged then you need to stop, keep you legs wide open, then someone that didn't get tagged yet can come and clap between there legs and touch their hand. Eventually I got to tag lots of people. The next thing we did was using the shuttle and racket. First we had to find out the two names for badminton. It was called front hand and back hand. Next we started to juggle it practising the front hand. The other thing we did was practise the back hand. After that Kevin showed us some trick shots. One of the ticks was bouncing it and then hitting it between our legs. The other trick shot was hitting it at the back of ourselves. Finally we had a completion show down. The competition was to see who would be the last person standing for juggling the shuttle on the racket. We had to rounds.

LI: To jump and land like motorbike.
This week for kiwi sport we are still focusing on run, jump, throw. Today I learnt how to jump using techniques. I learnt it by practising over and over again like repetition. Our first game we played was octopus-warm up game. The taggers were Myself and Julian. It was really good to play for a warm up game/fitness. Our next warm up we played was the techniques for jumping. We kept on practising as I already said. bent knees, swing arms, and shoulder with the part. Our final game was rock paper scissors. Unfortunately I dont have a image of it but I can tell you how to play it. The game was to have spots lying in a oval. You will need to get into 2 groups. You also need to use the jumping techniques when you jump. Once you get to the middle of the oval you need to play rock paper scissor with the other team member. Whoever wins gets to keep on going while the other team member joins in.

Kiwisport-Run,Jump,Throw
LI: To understand where and what to do when running in starts. This term for kiwi sport we will be focusing on Run,Jump, throw. Last week we worked on sprints but for this week we are working on how to start a run. Our first game was warm up. The line we were standing on was here, the middle line was there, and the line at the really end was where, and the final option was everywhere which meant we had to run everywhere. Andy had to call out here, there, where or everywhere while we were running to the right spots. Next we played another game called spots. Instead of using spots we decided to use cones. So the game was to face to you partner and once Andy claps we have to get up run to our cones and come back with it to the middle ile. Who ever wins out of the 2 partners they get a point for their whole team-Group A & B. We all were winners today. After that we learnt how to start a race. The words to start was On you marks, set, go. You are not allowed to look side to side otherwise someone comes at the side of you and finishes the race. Boys had a practise and then girls had a practise.
