Information Report - Neil Armstrong

Neil Armstrong

This isn't about Yuri Gagarin, nor is it about Sputnik 1, but it is about Neil Armstrong. Neil Armstrong Is known to be the first person to walk on the moon. Did you know that at the age of 16 he received his first pilots licence? At an early age Neil Armstrong developed interest in planes. He was born in 1930 August 5th in Ohio.

When he was 14 years old he took his first flying lessons. After college Neil became a test pilot, he flew 78 missions during war. In 1949 the US Navy called him for active duty. Only some pilots were chosen to be astronauts. In 1962 Neil Armstrong was chosen to be one of the astronauts. During this time America had planned their first flight to the moon. Neil Armstrong had the opportunity take America's first flight to the moon.

In 1969 July 20th Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon. His first words, as he stepped on the moon were "that's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind". A huge number of people watched the first moonwalk on TV. During his career he flew over 200 types of aircraft. September 1962 he was elected for the NASA Astronaut Corps, which meant he had completed a number of physical tests. After hearing that people were selling his autographs online, he stopped signing in them.

Before NASA had its name it went by the name NACA, before Armstrong had worked there. He had a variety of roles to do, such as Engineering, Test Pilot, Astronaut and Administrator. Soon he resigned From the US astronaut program in 1970 and became Professor of Aerospace Engineering at University of Cincinnati and Served as chairman of the board of computing Technologies for Aviation.

Now you know that this wasn't about Yuri Gagarin, nor was it about Sputnik 1, but it was about Neil Armstrong. From this day on, Neil Armstrong's footprints are still laid on the Moon.

Fun Fact: The three pilots arrived back on Earth, July 24th, which meant that they had spent 4 days on the moon.

This term for writing LS2 have been focusing on how to write and structure a information report. In LS2 we use TIPS to help us with our writing. T-Title, I-Information, P-Paragraphs, and S-Summary. Marieta and I worked collaboratively to write an information report about Neil Armstrong. It was really fun, because Mrs Anderson challenged us to use the voice type to write this, instead of actually typing it. Before anything happened, Marieta and I watched and researched different information about Neil Armstrong. We use present tense, technical words, nouns, subheadings, when we write our information reports. Did you know that Neil Armstrong's footprints are still laid on the moon, till now?

Chinstrap Penguin

What is your favorite carnivore animal? Did you know that Penguins can not taste their food, so they just swallow their prey whole. Penguins have adapted flippers, so they aren't able to fly, but it helps them swim in water.  Penguins that stay in Antarctica have no based predators. Their scientific name is called Spheniscidae (Spe-ni-si-day).

A penguin has two eyes, two ears, a long beak, two flippers, two legs, and a mess of feathers covered around its body. All penguins have black backs and white bellies. The ears of a penguin is covered with feathers. Penguins use their beaks to preen their feathers, especially in fights. Did you know that penguins have knees, although it doesn't look like? The shape of a Penguin's tail is like a wedge.

They spend 75% of their time hunting down for food: fish, krill, and squid. Penguins are carnivores. They get their food from the sea, and something that is clean and filled with rich nutrients. The food that they eat, depends on their behaviour, shape, and size. The most common foods for a penguin to be eating are fish, crustacean, and cephalopods.

Most Penguins are known to be found on every continent in the Southern Hemisphere. They are usually located in the marine environment where there are not as much predators, because they can not fly to escape. These habitats provide everything that a penguin needs, such as water, nutrient, and water.

Penguins have many interesting facts about their habitat, appearance, lifestyle, predators, and more. Just like all birds they are warm blooded. Did you know that not all penguins live in cold places? Little penguins reach the height of either 13 inches/33 centimeters. The largest Penguin is called the Emperor Penguin. They have thick layers of fat that keep them warm. They use tobogganing to glide across the ice like sled.

Fun Fact:

Aptenodytes (Ap-ten-o-dy-tes)  

is another name for Emperor Penguins, which are the most common and big penguins.


This week for writing we have been focusing on how to structure a information report.
A information report informs a reader about a certain topic. We have been looking
at information behind Penguins. Before writing, we used our researching skills to find
facts about a species of Penguins. The acronym that we use is called TIPS. T- title, I-introduction,
P-paragraphs, and S- summary. We use present tense, technical words, nouns, subheadings, when
we write our information reports. I have written a information report about Penguins, explaining
interesting facts and information about their family name.

De Havilland Dh 60 Moth Gipsy Moth

De Havilland Dh 60 Moth

Introduction:

A De Havilland is a plane but what type of plane is it? This type of plane was a Gipsy Moth. It was a aircraft but, back in

the days it only had 2 seat per gipsy moth.

Colours:

For A Gipsy Moth plane there can be different types of colors such as grey. I think the most popular color for a gipsy moth would be grey.

Parts/Shapes

There are not that much shapes in a Gipsy Moth. The body looks like a shaped cylinder. Gipsy Moths can has the same body shape.

Engine Type:

The Gipsy Moth has a engine type which is called a reciprocating. It has labels to but it flies with parts. The reciprocating is only helped to be part of a De Havilland plane- Gipsy  Moth.

Conclusion

And remember Jean Batten was one of the New Zealand international aviatrix around the world. Jean Batten is one of them that flyed the Gipsy Moth. There were million types of Gipsy Moths around the world.

Today for writing Mr Wong's writing groups had to write a information report on their own migrating topic. I chose to write about a De Havilland Dh 60 Moth Gipsy Moth plane. This week we also had to use our plan to write our information report. My goal point was to use my plan to write my information report. I enjoyed searching,skimming and scanning for key words on other useful websites.

Information report- Jean Batten

Jean Batten was known as a aviator of New Zealand. She broke the best record of flying solo's around the world. Jean Batten was born on September 15th 1909 in rotorua ( New Zealand),and died on November 22nd 1982 in Spain. She had to leave to England and study music there but instead she received a pilot's license. Always remember that Jean Batten was a aviator for New Zealand and the day she died. She is a wonderful aviator that New Zealand will never forget. 

Today for writing we are revising back on a information report. we had to write a introduction about our favourite aviator. I choose Jean Batten because she comes from NZ and also she broke one of the best record of solo flights across the world.

Information Report Writing Frame - Animal

TITLE Remember the title of your information report needs to let the reader know your topic	Panthera leo
INTRODUCTION What is the information report about? Is your animal known by another name (for example, the scientific name)? What is an interesting fact about your topic?	The scientific name for Lions is Panthera Leo. Lions are a type of Big cat. Males grow up to 1.2 m and Females grow up to 1.1 m. At night time they work together to defend territory and hunt.
DESCRIPTION Paragraph 1 Appearance 2-3 sentences about what your animal looks like. Try to include an interesting fact.	Appearance Panthera Lion look different from other species of lions. Panthera Lions have big whiskers on their face. Lions also have a brown skin and body. Lions have big ears. Lions are the second largest cats in the world ( Behind tigers).
DESCRIPTION Paragraph 2 Diet 2-3 sentences about what your animal eats. Try to include brackets () to explain something in greater detail.	Diet Lion's mostly eat there predators.They mostly eat big preys but sometimes they eat smaller preys. Lions mostly hunt in night for food. Their Preys is what they mostly eat. But sometimes they smaller Preys such as tortoises,hares,birds,mice.

Habitat Lions nearly lives in every continent but most of them don’t live in the Asia continent. Wild lions mostly live in Sub Saharan African. Their is a small population of Asia lions that Lives in Gir Forest in India. Tell me how many scientific names for a lion?
DESCRIPTION Paragraph 4 Other (Your choice) 2-3 sentences that tell some of the interesting facts you have found out about. Beginning one sentence with a hook is your challenge here.	Facts Male lions defend the pride's territory while females go hunting for food. When the Females come back with the food Males is the first ones to eat. A lion’s roar can still be heard from as far as 5 miles away. A lion can sleep up to nearly 20 hours a day.
CONCLUSION: A sentence that ends your report with one of your most interesting facts	African lions are the most social of all big cats and live together in groups or “prides.” A pride consists of about 15 lions only.

Today in Ls1 we got to make any topic information report. I chose a lion cause it is my 2nd favourite animal. I talked about Panthera Leo lions.

Today I learnt what do information reports have and what is it used for. LI: To show what we already know about information reports using a Exemplar. A information report needs a Title, Description, Introduction and a Conclusion.
