This term for kiwi sport Panmure Bridge School has been doing swimming lessons. Our swimming lessons take place on a Thursday, down at the Lagoon Pools in Panmure. This week for swimming orange group ( my group) have been learning with James. We were taught how to do the stream line, back stroke, freestyling, breast stroke and floating. For the freestyle, each of us got to use any type of swimming style. I decided to do the back stroke, because I found it easier, when swimming on my back. While everyone was doing the breast stroke, Chavda was showing us how to do butterflies again. At the beginning of the session James taught us a couple of water safety rules. My favourite part of all was when we got to the back stroke. ( floated on our back and swung our arms side to side).
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teacher is Mrs Anderson.

Swimming Lessons
This term for kiwisport we are doing Swimming lessons down at the Panmure Lagoon Pools. Before taking our swimming lessons everyone was to swim the whole length of the pool one by one. There were 2 groups. I was in the colour orange with a few others. At the beginning of our lessons each group got asked a number of questions about water safety. For the first lesson we were to swim down, touch the floor and get back up, until we got to the red dot. The next lesson that we did was doing the starfish for a minute. Most of us managed to complete that challenge. After that we did the stream line. For this lesson every was to put their hands up and squeeze it tight into their ears, then start swimming to the other end, without stopping. While everyone was doing the tumble turns (back/front flips), Chavda was showing us how to the butterfly. At the end of our session we did the box. The box is when you swim half of the pool with your nose in the water. Our first session of swimming was really fun and exciting, because we got the chance to learn a lot in 30 minutes.

Ki o Rahi
Today LS2 completed another week of Ki o Rahi. Our kiwi sport teacher is Shanesse. Ki o Rahi is a game that retells the legend of Rahi. Today was all about fair and honesty. Each team also showed encouragement to each other. We managed to share the ball between both girls and boys. As an excitement we used rippa's today. To make this game work there were 2 teams, which were Taniwha and Keuma. To start the game off 1 person from the Taniwha team is to kick the ball to the Kaitiaks, as they are to catch it. Once the Kaitiak's have catched it they need to try and pass it to their team, which is in Te Ao - outside of the world. Their team it to then run around and score points. If they get both of their rips taken off they are to hand the ball over to the other team. This team then tries to hit the Tupu, while the Kaitiaki is trying to block. If 2 are taken off their belts they can pass it to anther team and score the point.

Yesterday the year 5-8's softball teams went down to Dunkirk Park to participate in our softball games. There were 2 teams that represented Panmure Bridge School, which was the year 7 and 8 team and the year 5 and 6 team. We played 5 games each. We won 2 games and lost 3 games. Our opponents were Glenbrae School, Point England, Ruapotaka School, O Puau Te Moananui A Kiwa, and Tamaki Primary. We tried our best, but unfortunately we lost to O Puau Te Moananui A Kiwa, Point England, and Tamaki Primary. We managed to win against Ruapotaka School and Glenbrae. Throughout every game we showed teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship to each other. All of us were excited to try our new PE uniforms on.

Thank you to our 4 leaders and Mrs Anderson for cheering and leading us throughout today's session. Today everyone showed integrity and showed a lot of commitment to each other. Before doing our HIIT session we warmed up by using some fornite dances. The leaders decided to do ride the pony, take the l, hype, fresh, and living large. Remember that energy given is energy shared.

HIIT
Today was our second session of HIIT. HIIT stands for high intensity interval training. HIIT is when we do training different types of exercises 15 minutes. Today at HIIT we did 3 sets of star jumps, tap step, and high knees. Everyone managed to increase there heart rates to the colour red. When we were doing our exercises everyone managed to get puffed - pau te hau. This week we made it better by getting into 5 lines and doing our exercises altogether at the same time. It sounded better because everyone was encouraging each other. This was one of my best HIIT sessions because the lines we got into made me get more space to do the star jumps and tap steps. I just want to say a huge thank you to Mataio and Tiava for leading all the exercises for us.

Everyone managed to try hard and make there heart rate pump to the color red.
