Summer Learning Journey- Day 1 - Activity 1

Today for this task I had to choose one of the countries on the world map and try to read the quick facts that were on it. In this activity I had to choose one of the countries, read the facts, and also blog about that countries and tell them 2 reason about why you chose that countrie.
Here are My 2 Reasons
1. The Queen lives so I might wanna go visit her
2. One of their international sports were rugby which was one of my favourite sports that I would sometimes play in my spare time.Image result for england flag

  1. Kia ora Mele and welcome to the Summer Learning Journey! I am thrilled that you have joined us this holiday. I really enjoyed blogging with you in July and am excited that you've returned :)

I think that you've made a good choice in selecting England as your country to visit. It is quite a beautiful place with a very long and rich history, an interesting monarchy and many sporting events and teams to watch. The English are generally quite passionate about rugby and I am sure that would find plenty of people to throw a ball around with during your spare time.

You will also be able to visit the home of the Queen, Buckingham Palace. They have guided tours of specific areas within the large estate but they tend to keep her personal areas private. I have toured Buckingham Palace on a few occasions but, sadly, never actually saw the Queen. Her home is pretty impressive, though, I must admit!

I hope that you really enjoy your journey through England, Mele. We are excited to come along with you and learn from you as you go!

    All the best,

    Rachel :)

  2. Kia ora Mele,

Welcome to the Summer Learning Journey! We are very pleased to have you on board and blogging with us for the summer :-) My name is Dan and I'm working alongside Rachel and Mark over the summer. I'm lucky enough to be able to read your blogs and I'll be leaving comments as I go. If you want to reply to my comments then please do! I'd love to know what you think, or if you have any questions, feel free to ask away.

Well done on picking England for your learning journey, I think it's a great choice! It will be a very interesting place for you to visit. England is a country with a lot of history, and many people throughout New Zealand and the Pacific have some strong ties to England in one way or another.

I like your reasons for wanting to visit to. If you manage to see the Queen, say g'day to her for me! She might be a hard one to track down unfortunately, but there are places you can visit like Buckingham Palace which is one of her homes. I'm jealous of Rachel that she got to tour there, I've never been but I would love to go one day!

Like New Zealand, England has a strong sporting culture and rugby is no different. Did you know rugby was invented in England? A young man called William Webb Ellis was playing football (soccer) almost 200 years ago, and decided to pick the ball up instead... Or so the legend goes! You might have heard his name before, that's the name of the trophy they compete for at the Rugby World Cup. Cool huh??

Anyways, that's just a bit of a fun fact. But I'm looking forward to learning much more about England from you Mele. Keep it up!

    Naku noa,
    Dan.
