Summarising

This week for reading we have been looking at different types of ballad poems. The ballad poem that we talked about was the Waltzing Matilda. The Waltzing Matilda poem is a ballad poem, created by Banjo Paterson. Angela and I worked collaboratively to create this activity. Listening to the poem, we used our inference strategy to draw the clues in the poem. In my image I have included the features, of a Swagman lying underneath a Coolibah tree. We unpacked the language in the poem and identified what each word meant in it's own context. Above shows the summary that Angela and I have written together. We added 20 important words from the text, 6 most important words, and we used the 6 words to sum a whole summary about our story.

Summarising Changes

LI: To use a range of comprehension strategies to go deeper into a text. This week for reading we did the same thing but this time we had to do a bit changes to it. I only changed the parts of my junior, middle, and senior fiction slides. I had to take images of the part I was actually talking about. I added a video and then more images using webcam.

Screencastify - Summarising

LI: To use a range of comprehension strategies to go deeper into a text. This week for reading we had to do the same task but instead we had to use screencastify to record ourselves saying it. I tried practising 2 times and then I started doing it. I did a few changes before recording it as well. My strategies video was called summarising. So if you need to know anything about summarising just go ahead and click the triangle button to watch.

Summarising

LI:To use a range of comprehension strategies to go deeper into a text. This week for reading we made a modelling book.First we had to get into our reading groups, after that we had to discuss the strategies we have already learnt. Next each group had to stand up and say which strategies they were going to do. I was the first person im my group to choose. I chose summarising because I already planned what I was going to do before we started saying it. I created my own modelling book. I had to include a Fiction and Non Fiction book for a Junior,Middle, and Senior. I also had to use a book and make my own way of any of the summarising tasks.

Summarising

LI: To make connections, identify main ideas, summarise, evaluate, and synthesise fact through learning conversations. This week for reading was a group challenge which means to work together as a group. For this activity my group had to first read 2 articles about the suffrage movement and then find 20 important words about the suffrage from the articles we read. After that we had to get together as a group to tell each other the 6 most important words about woman's having the right to vote over the pass few years. Finally we had to use those 6 important words to sum up big 3 sentence using all the important 6 words.

Summarising

LI: To make connections, identify main ideas, summarise, evaluate, and synthesise fact through learning conversations. This week for reading we have a few more activities to go through. Today for this activity I had to work together with my reading group. The task was to read through 2 articles and then write down 20 important words, 6 MOST important words, and then 6 words to sum up in the text in a few sentences. Our group had to gether together and start reading the articles while skimming through for the most important words.
