This week for this activity I had to write down my pepehea. I only wrote in the things I have but the rest I dont know. The blank spaces shows that I dont have it in my personality. This pepehea is a great way of identifying myself and my family too. Click here to watch me saying my pepehea. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxqMNNxu2Qs

  1. Hi Mele,

Ruby here from the Summer Learning Journey team!

You've made a great start on your pepeha! It's important to know our pepehas so that we can acknowledge our ancestors and I also think it helps us understand who we are a bit better too.

I can see you haven't quite filled in some of those gaps, which is fine! I'll tell you what I use and perhaps you can use those ideas.
For my iwi, I use the Irish because that is where my family is from and they're the people I identify with.
For my hapu, I use Simpson (my last name) because they are my close family and the group of people I belong to.
Perhaps you could use those ideas to help you with a few of the gaps in your pepeha?

I look forward to reading more of your blog over the summer.
    Cheers,
    Ruby.

  2. Hi Mele
Well done on completing this summer learning journey activity. Your pepeha (so far) is looking great. Maybe you could remove the lines (_) so it's easier to see. Keep up the good work.
