Summer Learning Journey - Week 2 - Day 4 - Activity 3

What I can see is a lady posing. Her posing looks like she's leaning on the water. I can see building behind her. I can also see trees near a bridge. I can see beautiful streaming water crashing into each other. I can see boats on the water. The image of this place looks very ancient. It looks like I can see people from my point of view on the deck. It may not be people, but it looks like there is people around there. This photo looks like the lady wanted to take a photo as if she was doing the Leaning Tower of Pisa, but on the water. She looks like she took a holiday to this place. Yes I do take selfies whenever I go to places like: Rotorua, Taupo, Wellington, Waikato, and Tauranga. I think that this lady stop to take this photo, because she wanted to see what it would look like when she took this image of her.

This year Panmure Bridge School is lucky enough to participate in the Summer Learning Journey from 2018-2019. This is an opportunity for the Manaiakalani cluster school to join. For the Summer Learning Journey we are given tasks to finish. The people who place 1st, 2nd, and 3rd from each school wins exclusive prizes. The prizes this year is amazing. I have completed most of the week 1 challenges, so I moved onto the week 2 challenges. The week 2 challenges is based on water, water, everywhere. To complete this activity I was to choose one of the chosen 3 images. After choosing one of the images I was to write a paragraph about what I think they're doing. Above shows my completed work.

To complete this activity I was to take a minute and think about what I should call this pool. The picture of it is located in Rotorua. Over the pass few years people have advice to give this pool a name. I was to give 5 names to this pool.

1. Green Roto Pool.
2. Burogr grassy waterway. ( Bu - Bush, Ro - Rock, Green, gr). *
3. Swima leafy
4. Lushy Fresh Pool.
5. Tender clear water pool.

To complete this activity I was to choose an option to take to Milford Sound. I was to choose an option between taking a walk around the area, taking a boat cruise, or a helicopter that flies above. I chose to take a boat cruise, because I get to relax and see the beautiful view, but at the same time I will have a chance to take an amazing photo shot of me at Milford Sound. This means that the view will look great.

Summer Learning Journey - Week 2 - Day 3 - Activity 1

Me - I would call myself a night owl, because I would always stay up. Every time I try and go to bed I can't sleep. I always like staying up and I usually sleep in at around 12:00 in the weekends.

3 Brothers - I would call my 3 brothers night owls, because like before they always like to stay up during the night time and watch movies, until midnight.

Parents - I would call my parents the early risers, because they would always sleep and then they wake up at around 6:00 to either go work or to do assignments.

Summer Learning Journey - Week 2 - Day 2 - Activity 2

Marieta is the person that I chose. Marieta is my best friend at school. She is the type of friend that is always their to support me whenever it is needed. She is confident to share her learning in front of big crowds. I chose Marieta to be in my opinion, because she a strong friend who stands up for all her rights. In my opinion I chose Marieta, because she has the ability to help, fix, and solve problems whenever it happens. Another opinion is that she is always around the right people at the right time. She shows all our our care values in school and out of school.

I was to include information about them, why are they in my opinion. Above shows my completed work to these answers.

Summer Learning Journey - Week 2 - Day 2 - Activity 1

Would you try to do it?
Yes, because not only have I waved an ika, but I tried something experiencing and challenging to do. I would also do this, because ever since I was a year 5 I have been wanting to weave something out of leaves. Weaving interest me, because looking at other people do it is always satisfying. Most of my family members have done it, before so I would like to try it out one time.

Summer Learning Journey - Week 2 - Day 1 - Activity 2

1.  Brother, Gozan - I would pick my brother Gozan, because he is really funny and loud. Being loud will be a great supporter, because he can cheer me on and off during my races.
2. Brother, Amanaki - I would pick Amanaki, because he can start my day off with a great morning, by making me breakfast and doing fitness with me.
Brother, Ofa - I would pick Ofa as another supporter, because he will be a great person, by organising all my equipment first thing in the morning.

For example a girl name Laura ( team member of summer learning journey took a photo of her on her bike. My favourite activity to do in the summer is playing in the park on a cool day. I love playing at the park, because I get to play different types of games like tag. The best part about being on the park on a sunny day is getting to play against your friends with challenging obstacles.

Summer Learning Journey - Week 1 - Day 5 - Activity 3

Photo by Marcus Holland-MoritzCC BY-SA 2.0/ Emerald Lakes.

New Zealand is a wonderful hometown to a population of 4.794 million people, but you never know that New Zealand will be sinked, by any time. Most countries like Indonesia have been sinked by many times. If this happens New Zealand will be wiped out and all the cities and buildings will be gone by 2032, says the National Researchers of New Zealand. What are some situations to this problem? What are we going to do? Is it too late? Not only is there floods and sinking buildings disappearing, but everything is being stuck into the ground. Not only are there buildings, but we have sailing boats everywhere. According to this problem it looks like everything is going to get worse and worse. On a day in New Zealand we would either run summer activities or relax in the shade and read a book. We would usually eat ice cream and ice block in summer, because of the hot day. Some people would go for a swim, while others go for bike riding in the basin.

Above shows another place to stand activity that I completed for the Summer Learning Journey. To complete this activity I was to post a description of what life is like in New Zealand in 2018. I also remembered that the people who was reading my post will have never been to New Zealand or even seen a picture. I haven't created a image, but I used one and attributed it above.

Above shows another place to stand activity that I completed for the Summer Learning Journey. To complete this activity I was to write a letter to a best friend or a family member telling them about my trip to the Tundra. To earn full points I would have to add a greeting, which I did. Below shows an image and my letter that I have written.

Greetings Marieta,

How has your day been lately. My day has been awesome at the moment. I had the chance to go and visit the Tundra. It is very cold and dry right now. The best part is that is mostly snows everyday. When I saw the animals I was overwhelmed, because I haven't seen most of them at any point, until now. There was one animal that changed it's colour to blend in with the winter. I found out that the word tundra comes from a Finnish word tunturi, which defines treeless plain. I also experience that polar bears come to the tundra  to give birth in summer. When I was in here the sun hadn't risen for about a week. There are 2 types of Tundra seasons. They are the long winter and short summer. The plants grow together as if they are bunched together as a group. What did you experience, anything fun that I missed out on?

Thank you
Kind Regards
Mele Latuila

To complete this activity I was to tell others whether I think that logging should be allowed in New Zealand and why. My answer to this is yes. I think that we should allow logging in New Zealand, because  I think that more homeless people need houses, products, and heat/power. My other reason it that being able to log our trees would be good, because not only does it help our homeless people, but it can help kids in school with anything that needed like stationary, and it was also help groups donate money to others in the hospital.

I also added the photo of their team uniform and logo. I used my researching skills and got the Football Ferns, Black Ferns, and the Silver Ferns. After selecting the sport teams I was to write a short explanation based on my which uniform I would pick and why? I would pick the football ferns, because the background with the fern looks convincing and the words are bold, which makes their uniform stick out.

To complete this activity I was to get a image of the Kauri tree and write a short explanation about why would I visit this tree or why I wouldn't visit this tree. The Kauri tree is also known as the Tane Mahuta tree in Maori. There are a lot of Kauri trees everywhere. Did you know that the largest Kauri tree is in the Waipua Forest. Below shows my short explanation reason for why I would want to visit this Kauri tree.

Yes I would visit the Tane Mahuta tree, because the size of it looks enormous. I would also visit this tree, because I'd want to take a photo of it. By the looks of it the tree looks like there would be more than a million people visiting it each year. I would be one of them some time. I would also like to visit this tree, because there was a story that included Tane Mahuta in it. This book interested me. The quietness and wild nature in there looks wonderful.

These are my 3 top interesting facts, because I never knew about these.

Who am I?

Today Marieta and I were working together on this who am I in the world DLO. The first thing we did was create a DLO. This was a challenge to use our researching skills. These sidles will talk about different kinds of famous people in the world. We were to to add 5 interesting facts about the famous person. There were 10 famous people to complete about. Each slide contains a photo of the person, 1 google map image of their country, interesting facts, and the 5 questions that were asked to answer. Marieta and I worked collaboratively to finish this off. The best part of all was trying to answer the questions. This was fun, but at the same it was challenging, because we didn't know most of them, but using our researching skills helped us a lot. The questions were who am I, where am I from, why am I well known, and do I have a famous quote. The interesting part was using our researching skills to find facts about that famous person. After completing these slides we created a Kahoot that was based on all of these famous people.

1000 Blog Posts in Total

Today we had visitors that came in a visited each class. As the visitors entered our classroom one of them asked me about the amount of blog posts that I have in total. In total I have more than 1000 blog posts. I have succeed to achieve my goals, which is to reach 1000 blog posts in total. This means that I am the only student in this school that has reached the 1000 blog posts in total. I have received both my 500 and 1000 blog posts this year. I started blogging in 2015 when I was a year 4, until now. Above shows the photos of my blog and my badges that I've received this year. I have shared my learning to my global audience more than 1000 times for 5 whole years. Reaching 1000 blog posts is an honour, because I have been wanting to reach 1000 blog posts ever since I was a year 4. To reach 1000 blog posts I started posting 5 blog posts each week, but last year I blogged 9/10 tasks a week. The must do task list that my class used last year was impressive, because I got most of my blog post from that tasklist.

Cycling Monorail Invetion - Storyboard

Image result for cycling monorail

This week LS2 have been completing the city of sails challenges. The completed tasks that were set to complete were 5. For one of the activities we were to research a kiwi who invented something. Today Nickaela, Sky, Hajera, Fui, and, I collaboratively worked together to find information about our kiwi inventor. As a group we all agreed to create a storyboard about a kiwi called Geoff Barnett who invented a ride called the cycling monorail. It was called the cycling monorail, because it was exactly like the skyline, but with someone who cycles a bike throughout the whole ride. We decided to create a storyboard about this invention by using storyboard that. Our story was about Geoff Barnett who went to a circus and tried out new rides, but then he thought about creating his own ride, so that kids could be more active, besides sitting on a seat. Above shows the storyboard that we created and a image of Geoff Barnett's invention.

City of Sails - Where would you live and Why? - Task 5

This week LS2 has been completing the City of Sails challenges. There were a lot of tasks to choose from. We are called the City of Sails, because of the number of boats and yacht marinas that are off the shore. After choosing a task to complete we were to create a digital learning object based on it. For this task I was to create a DLO that explained where I would live and why. For me I would live in Rotorua, because there are a lot of things to do, there is even a lot of camping sites down there. There is also the skyline and the luge that I enjoy when I go to Rotorua all the time. Above shows the DLO that I created on my own. To make it better I added a image of one of the famous landmarks in Rotorua.

City of Sails - Welcome Sign - Task 4

We are called the City of Sails, because of the number of boats and yacht marinas that are off the shore. After choosing a task to complete we were to create a digital learning object based on it. For this task I was to create a welcome sign to tourists who visit Auckland. In my sign I decided add the map of New Zealand, a Kiwi, the Sky Tower, the New Zealand Flag, and a airplane. I also added a phrase that said explore, discover, enjoy.

City of Sails - Collage - Task 3

For this task I was to create a collage with Auckland images. I deicded to add images of the famous landmarks that are stated in Auckland. One of the images that I used was the Sky Tower, because our school visited the Sky Tower this year and I though that it was amazing to experience and learn about the Sky Tower. I got 9 images. It was the Rainbow's End theme park, Auckland Town Hall, Auckland Zoo, One Tree Hill Memorial, Michael Joseph Savage, Auckland Harbour Bridge, Auckland Museum, Sky Tower, and the Panmure Basin.

City of Sails - Pavlova - Task 1

Today LS2 has been completing the City of Sails challenges. There were a lot of tasks to choose from. We are called the City of Sails, because of the number of boats and yacht marinas that are off the shore. After selecting the task we were to create a DLO based on that task with creative drawings. We were to create a least 5 activities, sine there are 5 days in school. Above shows the 1 of the activities that I completed. I decided to find a recipe for pavlova or anzac biscuits. In my DLO I included 2 images, the ingredients, and the instructions to making Pavlova.

Steampunk Art

Steampunk Art

This week LS2 have been working on their steampunk art. Steampunk Art was used back then for horror movies, fantasy, and culture. The first thing that we did was to pick an image from google that had mechanical objects in it. I decided to create a heart with mechanical objects in it. After drawing my piece of art I then animated it on a google drawing. Compared to the image that was actually draw by me looked amazing, because some details looked exactly like the other. After animating mine of the computer I was to write the meaning of steampunk in my own words. Above shows the images and meaning that I created on my own. Savelina and I both created a DLO that was based on the Wash Day with Victorians. The DLO explained each equipment that they used during their wash day like the washing mangle, washing board, and the dolly stick.

Leadership Speeches

At Panmure Bridge School we have leadership positions. This year our school leaders were Tiava, Jeremiah, Ofa, Sanujan, Mataio, and Savelina. For the pass few weeks the year sevens have been completing leadership challenges. Last week all the year sevens started writing their leadership speeches. My speech was based on becoming the Head Girl of 2019. Below shows my leadership speech that I wrote for Head Girl. Everyone who spoke was amazing, because they showed confidence. Everyone who spoke created a collage to show them showing leadership. Ms Kirkpatrick, Mrs Anderson, Miss Millward, Mr Johnston, and the our student leader of 2018 were out audience. When we came back to class the teachers and leaders were to vote for who they want to become the school leaders of 2019. At prize giving the school leaders will be announced.
