Summer Learning Journey- Day 2 Activity 2

For this task I had to research the country that I chose and write 3 facts about that country. It also said that the facts we used must not be the same as the one on our country we chose.

  1. In England they had so many small Islands back in those days.
  2. Do you know that the Summer Olympics were held in London 3 times. One of them were held in 2012.
  3. The London Queen - Queen Elizabeth. In New Zealand Our money logo is Queen Elizabeth.

  1. Hi Mele,

It's great to see that you've already posted a second blog today. You're on a roll!

I like the three facts that you selected for your blog, as well. It is quite unusual for a city to have already hosted the modern day Olympics three times. I believe that London is the only place to have done that. Am I right?

I would love to know where you found these cool facts. Were they on Wikipedia? If you have a minute, could you please add a link to the site where you found this information? It would be so helpful!

Thanks for teaching me new things this morning, Mele. I am intrigued to know more about when it was made up of many small islands. How long ago was 'back in those days?' Are you referring to a few hundred years ago or thousands of years ago?

Nice work with this blog, Mele. You've really captured my interest :) I can't wait to know more about England!

    Cheers,
    Rachel

  2. Hi Mele,

Well done on working your way through the learning journey. Great work! Thank you for sharing your fact hunting with us. I didn't know about the islands or the Olympics, that's really interesting.

I remember watching the 2012 London Olympics, I always love watching as many sports as I can during the Olympics. My favourite is the athletics! What Olympic Sports do you like to watch the most? I never knew that London had hosted the Olympics 3 times though. Do you know which other years they hosted the Olympics during?

Our money still has the Queen featuring on it, because we are a part of what's called the Commonwealth. This is a collection of countries around the world that have been colonised by Britain. What this means is that effectively the Queen is still the boss, even of our Prime Minister!

Keep up the blogging Mele, I think both Rachel and I will be learning a lot about England from you :-)

    Cheers!
    Dan.

  3. Hello Mele
I'm pretty sure the Queen is on our $20 note. I didn't even know that England held the summer Olympics 3 times. Nice job.
