5 main ideas




LI: To find the 5 main ideas in a article.This week for reading we did the same thing but used a different article on the winter Olympics history website. Everyone worked in pairs to complete this task. The task was to fill in this chart with the 5 main ideas of the article we read. Marieta and I worked together to find out the 5 main ideas. This week, myself and Marieta found 5 main ideas about the Winter Olympics in Austria, Innsbruck 1964. 



Rewind 2 Remind

This term my maths groups has been using the rewind 2 remind folder to learn how to add, subtract, or times using the place value strategy. The Rewind 2 remind folder shows the videos that were taken to help us learn how to layout our maths problems. This video was taken to show others how to get to the rewind 2 remind folder if you need help.

Duffy Book Visit


Today Panmure Bridge School had a Duffy Assembly. It was amazing to have Matt Johnston, Taylor, and the main freight group to come and visit our school. Each class got their books handed to them in Duffy assembly.  In Duffy assembly everyone sang the Duffy song. A big thank you to Main freight for giving our Duffy books. I will have an amazing Easter holiday reading my Duffy books. Today I got a Tom Gates and a Geronimo Stilton book. 

The Tunnel- Settings Description

LI - To notice the language features in a settings description.
Today for writing I wrote a settings description about a tunnel in a forest. In this character description I used some language features to make my settings description interesting.

Sadly Professor Stephen Hawking passed away last week. We have created this presentation to show information about Stephen Hawking and he became famous. In this task we focused on using our own words and attributing images.

Character Description

LI - Look at the language features used to describe characters.
Today for writing I wrote a character description about a young girl Emily who loved reading books. In this character description I wrote a simple, compound, and complex sentence. My character description describes the personality of Emily personal passion.

5 Main Ideas

LI: To find the 5 main ideas of a non fiction article. Today for reading Ponui group read the history of the winter Olympics. Everyone worked in pairs to complete this task. The task was to fill in this chart with the 5 main ideas. Miki and myself worked together to find out the 5 main points. After writing the 5 main ideas Miki and myself discussed with Lyric and Julian to find out if we all agreed on each others main ideas. Miki and myself read the history of St Moritz in 1948.

Look at the different sentence types used. Today for writing I wrote a character description about a man named Johnston who had magic. In this character description I wrote a simple, compound, and complex sentence. Yellow is simple, blue is compound, and pink is complex. I decided to write a character description about this picture.

5 Main Ideas

LI: To find the 5 main ideas of a non fiction book. Today for reading Ponui group read a book called Hard Ice, Soft Ice. Everyone worked in pairs to complete this task. The task was to fill in chart with with the 5 main ideas. Marieta and myself worked together to find out the 5 main points. We both read the book to find out the main ideas and then we wrote it in. Here is a photo of Ponui group working together to find the 5 min points. The image at the bottom shows you the chart that Marieta and I filled in.

Agents of change


Today I created a google drawing showing others how I can become an agent of change. On the left it shows you my explanation about how I should be come a agent of change and on the rights it shows you a photo of me with our Panmure Bridge School agents of change poster. To helps set goals we looked at how we could be agents of change in our own 2018 learning journey. I an Agent of change for 2018. 

Tech



Today was our third session at Tamaki College Tech. Our instructor today was Mr Grundy. Mr Grundy's class learnt all about doing pewter casting. Today some people were starting to trace and make their pewter castings. My first pewter casting I did was a pregnant woman. I chose to make this for my mum because she is a professional midwife. Next week at tech some students are gonna make their second pewter castings. Next week I'm making a casting for my dad.
