Swimming Lessons
This term for kiwisport we are doing Swimming lessons down at the Panmure Lagoon Pools. Before taking our swimming lessons everyone was to swim the whole length of the pool one by one. There were 2 groups. I was in the colour orange with a few others. At the beginning of our lessons each group got asked a number of questions about water safety. For the first lesson we were to swim down, touch the floor and get back up, until we got to the red dot. The next lesson that we did was doing the starfish for a minute. Most of us managed to complete that challenge. After that we did the stream line. For this lesson every was to put their hands up and squeeze it tight into their ears, then start swimming to the other end, without stopping. While everyone was doing the tumble turns (back/front flips), Chavda was showing us how to the butterfly. At the end of our session we did the box. The box is when you swim half of the pool with your nose in the water. Our first session of swimming was really fun and exciting, because we got the chance to learn a lot in 30 minutes.

Chop Suey/ Food at Tamaki College
Today LS2 completed their last session of their rotation for Term 2. Our teacher was Mrs Heka, who takes care of food tech. Today we cooked Chop Suey from the background of Samoa. This rotations theme is all about cultural food. Since there wasn't an equal amount of students in food class, there was a group of 3: Avalon, Joel and I. Each person had their own roles to complete. Joel and I worked together to make sure that the dishes were done, and that the main ingredients were prepared to be added in, while Avalon was dicing the onion, chicken, and garlic. The equipment that we used from our trolley was: medium bowl, measuring cups/spoons, knives, cutting board, big pot, strainer, fork, and serving spoon. The ingredients were: mixed vegetables, chicken, soy sauce, boiling water, oil, vermicelli, and salt. We were told to remove the pot from the heat every 2 minutes, because of the stickiness from the chicken and vermicelli. At the end of the session, as always we cleansed down our top/bottom benches, especially the stoves/crum tray. While we were cooking our chop suey, Mrs Heka was getting the rice prepared.

Display Board for the Library
This term the school leaders, Giovanni, and Victoria have been working on a display board for the library. Together we have been drawing a number of images from the episode book '' Bad Guys''. We chose different pictures from the book, while Mrs Anderson took a photo of it. Everyone managed to finish their drawing on time. Not only did we finish it, but we adjusted our photos, by adding a bit more detail in it. When we were placing the pictures to where it was meant to be there was a lot to fill in, meaning not only did we rearrange them to a bigger size, but we decided to draw more pictures from different episodes. Each of our names were placed on our own drawings. The colour of the display board was red, which matched with images that were drawned. Fui and I chose the look of the outside boarder, which was a comic strip type. We printed 16 pages of them, because of the size that it turned out to be. A huge thank you to Mrs Knowla and Mrs Slown for making sure that the display board was up on the library wall, especially to those to participated in making this happen. We managed to get positive feedback from both teachers and students.
Mixed Decimal Questions Game
I have created a maths game, which is based on decimal thinking. This game helps you think deeply into adding big decimal numbers, especially the maths that is hidden in these questions. If the question is incorrect it will take you to a link that provides help, which is a video that explains how to add decimals. After watching the video there will be a link that will take you back to the previous question that was not answered correctly. If the question is correct it will take you to a link that takes you to the next question. I have also created my own character that is animated, as a gif. I have given you 10 questions to answer, especially with 2/3 digit numbers. Once you have finished playing, there will be a link that takes you to a slide, which allows you to rate a star out of 4 .After completing my game I got a number of people to check my game. At the same time they gave me feedback, meaning what they liked about my game, and what I should change. My feedback was to remove the underlines. I think that this was a great suggestion, because it made the words look more big and clear. I was really proud of what I achieved at the end, because I got to learn how the maths was solved, then create my game using different strategies, and then finally got to share it with a heap of other people, especially with the positive feedback that was given back. Today everyone showcased their own maths games to the whole class. Each person was allowed to present with a buddy. I decided to present with Sandra. At the end of the maths presentations everyone started playing the maths games that was created.
